Hello! My name is Meredith McEvoy and I’m an Educator, Educational Developer, and Social Worker living and working on the unceded territory of the K’omoks people.

I was born in Toronto and studied Geography (B.Sc.) with a focus on Northern Geography at McGill University in Montréal. As I came to the end of my studies in science I realized I wanted to focus more on working with people. I moved to B.C., joined a Sign Language choir, studied ASL and Deaf Studies at VCC, worked at a residential facility for youth struggling with substance use, and eventually found my way to Social Work. In 2011 I graduated with my Masters of Social Work from the University of Toronto with a specialization in Social Justice and Diversity.

Since then I have been working in community-based settings in child, youth, and family mental health. I began working as a sessional instructor in Human Services at North Island College in 2016, and as a regular Faculty member and sessional Educational Developer in 2023. I have a strong upbringing in social justice values. I bring my experiences in social justice activism, including with Indigenous and Migrant communities, to my social work and teaching practices.
