In my Family Relationships one of the assignments is to analyze a family using a “4P framework”. The original 4Ps from this model are Predisposing, Precipitating, Perpetuating, and Protective factors. This year I added more Indigenous and Intercultural Ps (Place, People, Purpose, Protocol, Perspective, Power, Pathways), and let students choose from the list for the first 3, but the final P still had to be Protective. I also changed the assignment so that each student created their own composite case study of a family instead of me using an assigned case study.
I chose to share this student exemplar of the 4P assignment because I think this student did some really excellent work in creating and communicating their case study and then tacking 3 of the new Ps from the list. The student brings valuable detail into each section, such as commenting on the differences between the neighbourhood experiences of this family in India and their new home in New Zealand. This student does a fantastic job of capturing this family and their story of migration, adaptation and resilience in an international context, all within the 4P framework. Enjoy!
